Long runs, soft ground and open wind
A fence line of several hundred feet crosses different conditions. One stretch may be firm and well drained, the next a low spot where water collects after a storm, and a third may cross a rise in the ground. Red clay holds water and can heave posts that are set too shallow, so low spots need extra attention to depth and drainage.
Open land also means wind. Solid panels catch a lot of it across an exposed field, while open fabric lets it pass. Corner and end posts carry the pull of a long run, so they are set deeper and braced. Access matters too, because a delivery truck needs somewhere dry to unload material near the line.
